Help Support Victims of the Humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine

Your help is sincerely appreciated.

The distressing humanitarian disaster in Ukraine has caused all of us to think about what we can do to help. The attacks on residential buildings have caused serious injuries and littered the streets with debris. The situation has degraded the medical emergency response to injured patients. People now have to help themselves and their loved ones.

A Ukrainian surgeon—a member of the ACS Committee on Trauma who has been teaching STOP THE BLEED® courses in Ukraine for the last few years—has requested bleeding control kits and tourniquets, as well as STOP THE BLEED® material translated into Ukrainian. The ACS has responded by translating educational material, creating video education, and establishing a venue for donations on the ACS STOP THE BLEED® website. Please visit the website and help in any way you can.

The ACS is supporting education efforts to ensure citizens of Ukraine know the basics of the STOP THE BLEED® course so that they can implement these lifesaving techniques when needed.

Roxolana Horbowyj, MD, FACS, is conducting frequent online training via Zoom in Ukrainian to educate citizens.

In addition, Nelya Melnitchouk, MD, FACS, is featured in a video created by the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, to further spread the word and provide a short overview of the techniques featured in our STOP THE BLEED® training. Watch and share the video. This effort also was highlighted in today’s Washington Post.
